Take a sneak peek
It has been some time since I have thought about that day, when as a seventeen-year old I had, in saying “Yes Father, I accept your offer”, unknowingly mapped out my future, and set in motion the life that I thought I had wanted to live. It seems now if I can recall correctly, that my head had been filled with the excitement of the possibility of all that the seriousness of Father’s words entailed, and that the offer itself, had filled me with the pride that only seventeen-year-olds can feel, knowing that in the asking, my Father had expected so much of me. So much that my chest had ached with the promise of all that I would do to ensure the family legacy would be safe. In that instant, everything else had faded.
